This is an entire branch of diving designed for the public safety professional. Specializing in public safety divers training and meeting standards from agencies like NFPA, OSHA, ANSI and more. You will learn the techniques and procedures to operate in the challenging environments and conditions required of the public servant for rescues and recoveries.
ERD 1 is an introduction to the fundamentals of team operations, including scene management, search patterns, chain of custody and more. You will begin preparing for the challenges of public safety diving with entanglement drills, blindfolded drills, search patterns and more. This is what departments often call the "ops" level.
At this level of public safety diving you will demonstrate mastery of skills in fully encapsulating equipment and redundant breathing gas. You will also learn how to command a response scene, maintain evidence chain of custody, and properly document calls. This is the "tech" level
